Using Your Vacation Rental Photos Across Airbnb, VRBO and Google

How short-term rental owners can use one professional photo shoot across Airbnb, VRBO, Google and a direct booking site, with the right order for each.

Most short-term rental owners pay for one professional shoot and then upload the same gallery everywhere. That works, up to a point. Airbnb, VRBO, Google and your own direct booking site each show photos differently, reach guests at a different stage of planning, and reward different choices about order and emphasis. A little planning turns one shoot into a set of galleries that each do their job.

This post is about using the photos you already have across platforms. If you are still planning the shoot, start with our Airbnb photography checklist for Central Florida vacation rentals, and for why rentals need a different approach than home listings, see Airbnb and VRBO photography.

Start with one master library

Before uploading anything, organize the full delivery into a master folder. Name files by room and feature: "pool-twilight", "primary-bedroom", "game-room", "kitchen-island". Keep the highest-resolution versions there and export smaller copies for each platform as needed.

Then mark three groups:

  • Hero candidates. The four or five images that best sell the stay, usually the pool, the main living area, a standout bedroom and an exterior or twilight shot.
  • Proof images. Every bedroom and bathroom, the kitchen, parking and outdoor areas. These answer guest questions before they are asked and cut down on messages.
  • Detail and experience shots. Themed rooms, coffee bars, board games, views and check-in features. These make the listing feel specific rather than generic.

Airbnb: tell the story room by room

Airbnb guests tend to scroll the full gallery and look closely at sleeping arrangements. A few habits help:

  • Lead with your strongest image, then follow with the spaces guests ask about most.
  • Group photos by room in a logical order, so a guest can picture walking through the home.
  • Use captions or room labels where the platform offers them to make bed layouts clear.
  • Make sure every bed in the listing description appears in a photo. Mismatches lead to questions and, worse, disappointed guests.

VRBO: think about groups and families

VRBO has long been associated with families and larger groups booking whole homes. For a resort home near Disney or a large pool home in Kissimmee, that means:

  • Showing capacity early: the dining table set for the full group, bunk rooms, the size of the pool deck.
  • Highlighting the shared spaces where the group will actually spend time, like the game room, lanai and living room.
  • Including community amenities if guests have access, such as a resort pool or clubhouse.

The same images can serve both platforms. What changes is order and emphasis.

Google and your direct booking site

Guests often search a property or management company by name before they book. Depending on how your business is set up, Google may show your rental through a booking partner, a Google Business Profile for your management company, or simply your own website. In each case, the photos are a first impression.

  • Google Business Profile. If you run a management company, keep the profile stocked with current, professional images of your best properties, not phone snapshots.
  • Direct booking site. This is where you control everything. Use larger images, full galleries, a Matterport 3D tour and a short video. Guests who land here are often comparing you against a platform listing, so it should look at least as good.
  • Consistency. Use the same hero image across channels where you can. Guests who see a property in more than one place should recognize it immediately.

Keep every gallery current

Vacation rentals change: new furniture, a refreshed game room, a new outdoor kitchen. Outdated photos create a gap between expectations and reality, and reviews tend to notice. Refresh specific rooms when they change rather than letting the gallery drift, and update every platform at the same time so no channel is left showing the old version. Before using the images in paid ads, confirm that your photography license covers that use.

Whether your rental is in Orlando, Kissimmee, Tampa Bay or Central Texas, one well-planned shoot can supply every channel you book through. Ready to book? Call or text (689) 600-2131 or get in touch.
